Abstract
Volunteer work is essential to create involvement within a community and foster sustainable social organizations. The main research question for this study was “How can different types of volunteers be recruited and be dispersed to the correlating non- governmental social and cultural organizations on Aruba?” In the Aruban community it is unclear how volunteer work influences the economy and/or the social economic well-being. There are no clear economic indicators or numbers of how volunteers are statistically contributing to the social and cultural development of the island of Aruba. This research also aimed to aid organizations with steps for effective management practices in overseeing volunteers. Furthermore, it aimed to identify recruitment and retention policies or procedures. This research applied a mixed method approach. Simply put, this term refers to research that combines strategies known both as quantitative and qualitative research.
